Frequently Asked Questions
Small Business Web Support helps small businesses build, fix, and maintain their websites. Run by Sarah Wood, the service covers three main areas: building a new or updated website (Build), ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting (Support), and one-to-one WordPress training (Teach). A full website review is also available for businesses unsure how their current site is performing.
The Build service takes you from domain registration through to a finished, working website. It includes advising on the best hosting for your needs, registering your domain, and building a site with good SEO principles, security, and efficiency built in from the start. Sarah has built sites ranging from simple brochure sites to fully featured membership and booking platforms.
Yes. The Support service covers updating content, fixing old problems, removing outdated information, adding new products or services, updating WordPress software, and running security audits. Sarah also liaises directly with your hosting company on your behalf, including sorting out SSL certificates and domain issues, so you don’t have to deal with technical jargon yourself.
Yes, there are four monthly maintenance plans. Silver covers monthly WordPress and plugin updates, security checks, and contact form testing. Gold adds 1 hour/month of phone support, home page changes, blog posts, and page updates. Platinum adds 2 hours/month of support, new page creation, and adding new products. Platinum+ (price on request) adds new feature development, priced to your needs. All plans include liaising with your hosting company if your site has problems or goes down
A Website M.O.T is a one-off health check of your website’s software and security. Sarah checks what’s running behind the scenes and provides a full report with a list of suggested actions, so you know your site is safe, up to date, and can see any small changes that could make a big difference.
The Full Website Review checks five areas: whether your site serves your clients’ needs, whether your personality and brand come through, SEO performance, security (including domain and access protection), and legal compliance (UK GDPR). If you then ask Sarah to carry out the recommended work, you get up to half of the £cost back.
Yes. The Teach service offers one-to-one training and mentoring at your own pace, so you gain the confidence to make your own website changes. Sessions can be delivered in person or online. Group training in WordPress or Elementor is also available, along with structured courses: an Introduction to WordPress course and a Next Stages in WordPress course for more advanced changes.
In-person personalised training or “power hour” sessions range from £200 to £325 depending on the option chosen. Online 1-1 sessions range from £150 to £275. Both are available to book directly through the website.
Yes. Sarah works with new businesses from scratch, helping you choose and register a domain, set up hosting and email, and build your first website, avoiding the common mistakes and jargon-heavy sales pitches that trip up first-time website owners.
Yes, good SEO principles are built into every website from the start, rather than added on afterwards. This is covered as part of the Build service and is also one of the five checks in the Full Website Review.
